After becoming friends through shared passions of trail work, bikes, and the outdoors, Ben and Elliott joined forces in 2017 to form Skinny Traffic Trails. We each bring unique skills and experiences to offer a full spectrum of design, build, maintenance, and consulting services.

Elliott Leslie
Co-founder, designer, and builder

Elliott started riding bikes at age 3, and hasn’t stopped for over 40 years. His love for working with dirt and rocks has been a lifelong passion too, having learned to operate heavy machinery before he was old enough to drive a car. Combining a 12 year career as a professional bike messenger with a degree in Environmental Engineering, plus many years of prior experience in building golf courses, custom landscapes, and Snowcat grooming, Elliott has found the perfect balance of all these experiences in trail work. A mountain biker at heart, Elliott moved to Fraser, Colorado in 2012 to focus on life on the mountains, trail building, trail advocacy, and backcountry skiing. He has completed numerous solo bikepacking & bike touring trips exploring 9 different countries and many remote and wild areas of Colorado, Utah and Arizona. He’s always looking for an excuse to go explore new places on bikes!

Ben Koenig
Co-founder, designer, and builder

Ben has dedicated his life to cycling and Nordic ski fitness, and has had successful racing careers in both. In college he studied Health Promotion and Wellness while coaching regional and local Junior teams in skiing and mountain biking. He’s led trail crews in his home state of Wisconsin as well as in Colorado at YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch and Granby Ranch. With a vast array of skills, you will find Ben behind the controls of equipment on trails, doing the hard work with hand tools, grooming Nordic trails in wintertime, repairing machinery, or finding the most creative solution to a difficult trail routing challenge. He moved to Colorado in 2015 to pursue professional trail building, coaching, Nordic skiing, backcountry skiing, archery and many other outdoor opportunities. In addition to coaching multiple high school athletes to compete in the NICA State Championship races, Ben has served as the lead ski wax technician for the Midwest Junior Team at the US National Nordic Championships in Alaska. He’s spent winters working as Nordic Ski Director at YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch in Granby, Colorado and Race Event Coordinator at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center in Park City, Utah.
